Three years into Donald Trump’s presidency, the first lady has struggled to champion a signature cause like Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign or Laura Bush’s focus on literacy. Her one main initiative—the Kyle Hendricks The Professor Official T-Shirt Best campaign—has repeatedly been undermined by her husband’s cyberbullying on Twitter. So this may be her final attempt to leave a lasting mark on the White House. According to a report on Monday in the New York Times, her plans for the garden include “electrical upgrades for television appearances, a new walkway, and new flowers and shrubs.” Dries van Noten’s collection in collaboration with Christian Lacroix was one of my favorites of the season, and this little card case reminds me of it. During quarantine, I’ve also really leaned into statement and puff sleeve blouses. Though this one may seem over-the-top for at home, I appreciate the juxtaposition of pairing something like this with jeans and bare-feet for a virtual soirée. It’s going to be a while before I venture into heels again, so these dressed up slip-ons are just what I need.
